Apartment Review for Amhurst Apartments - Dayton, OH

This place is horrible guys, seriously don't live here. Me and my wife lived here for one year. During that time I didn't think I was going to be able to endure it without breaking lease. First of all the apartments are horribly small. We had a 1 bdrm with utlity room and that thing was still cramped! A 3 brdm one would be cramped. Second the parking lot is horrible your car will never be clean again from their ugly tree, plus its supposed to be open parking to anyone which may sound like a good idea however all it does it make it so you can never get the same parking spot again. It also caused me to have a threatening note placed on my car which management did nothing about, as well as my car was keyed and punched I'm guessing all because as the note said "We were here first its not fair you have two cars! you need to find somewhere to park!" Well excuse me but I wasn't aware they owned the lot nor was I aware that It was some horrible thing for me to have a car and my wife to have a car. Now lets talk safety at amherst. I got a CCW permit just because I had to live around these scumbags. My wife was verbally harassed alot by a bunch of drunk low lifes as she walked through the parking lot. Ladies don't move in here unless you want to always be seen as a sex object walking to your car. It was scary she wouldn't go out there without me. Homeless people also go through the dumpster and go around knocking on the doors at night asking for money. On top of that they send us letters for everything saying we would have to do this or that when it wasn't even us doing it! Threatening to evict us from a dish that wasn't ours and as well as the pet waste that was againest a wall next to our apartment that wasn't ours! I was told all these harsh rules they had for people with pets and with me they had 100% harder rules than the normal but for one couple living there the rules didn't apply, their dog got to run unleashed attack other dogs and even jumped into my car one day as I was leaving for work... As I have read in some other's reviews here, yes break ins did happen. Their locks where laughable at best even I thought that. I can count at least 6-8 times in the year that I lived there where I saw the cops out there for break in's alone, not counting the noise and the homeless and the fighting and parties. In the winter the parking lot will be a sheet of ice and it will stay a sheet of ice. Their crew must of never got through highschool because they are some of the most uneducated people I have met. It took us 3-4 months No joke to get a working fridge! they ruined about 300-500 bucks in food because they would give us a "new" one then we would go and stock it up and then it would just stop working. I had to fight and argue with them because they would tell me "we already gave you one." I had to fight for a working fridge...yes thats right..and you want to live there? As for the money I lost I never saw it back. Of course not. If you have children don't move here their isn't any safe place for them to play. Speaking of playing children you can always seem to find an apartment that has 5-6 kids in it and the whole family sits outside right in the middle of the street/parking lot making it hard to go anywhere at all. So during the summer you are going to have to deal with that over and over again anytime you drive out or in. Too many men walk around half naked walking their dogs letting their dog do its business all over your front porch area then they don't curb it they just walk away. Then guess what? YOU GET A LETTER FROM AMHERST SAYING YOU WILL BE EVICTED IF YOUR DOG'S WASTED ISN'T REMOVED! I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A DOG WHEN THIS HAPPENED! AND THEY SHOULD OF KNOWN THAT BECAUSE YOU PAY RENT FOR YOUR PETS THERE! Amherst is money hungry bottomline. Overcharge you under service you. That letter they sent about the sat dish to me they claimed they were going to charge me 100 bucks and throw it away I told them it wasn't mine and guess what after agruing with them...its still there I haven't lived there since dec. 2008 but I promise you its still there, unless the people who live there now got charged for it. They won't do any work unless someone is forcing or paying big bucks to them. one Last thing I wanted to add to this was that in the summer don't be shocked if you get woken up at 3am from a bunch of drunken men screaming outside your window, it will happen all the time. I wouldn't live here again if they paid me. Kathren( lady who owns it) is a bitch.
